Chaired by Al Rumaithi: Abu Dhabi Sports Council Hosts AD Five Clubs Administrations in Expanded Meeting to Tackle Next Stage Plans

H.E. Maj. Gen. Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Vice President of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADC), held an expanded meeting with the leaders and chairmen of the boards of directors of football, sports and investment companies of the five clubs of Al Ain, Al Jazira, Al Wahda, Bani Yas and Al Dhafra held at the ADC headquarters. The meeting aimed at tackling the plans for the period ahead and development opportunities, examining challenges, reviewing the most important developments and identifying the investment opportunities and club requirements in support of the advancement and development of the football and sports sector in Abu Dhabi Clubs. This comes in line with the national approach and the continuous quest to promote the status of Abu Dhabi clubs and consistent with the general interest of UAE sports.

H.E. Maj. Gen. Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi opened the meeting by hailing the support and interest of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, for the sports and athletes sector at the level of the State, as well as His Highness’ keenness to achieve development and advancement of the football sector and other sports in Abu Dhabi clubs as a reflection of His Highness’ belief and national and pioneer approach aspiring to provide opportunities and grounds for success and excellence for all games and nurturing talents for further achievements of UAE sport. Maj. Gen. Al Rumaithi stressed that His Highness attaches great importance to the implement the best sports plans and initiatives for the benefit of UAE sport.

H.E. Al Rumaithi also expressed his appreciation to all participants for their cooperation and efforts in enhancing communication channels and cooperation between the clubs to coordinate the work mechanisms on a continuous basis. As per its agenda, the attendees also reviewed the need to implement the organizational structure of the clubs on the word of the circular issued by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council No. 8 of 2017, as well as to abide by the salaries cap adopted by UAE Football Association.

During the meeting, it was also stressed that there is a need to adopt effective and codified financial policies in the manner that serves all Olympic games and sports and not to be limited to the activity of football.

Furthermore, the attendees discussed the clubs’ budgets and challenges, in addition to the clubs’ commitment to pay debts as stated by the circular issued by Abu Dhabi Council No. (4) of 2017 on the entitlements of private sector companies. Additionally, they reviewed the cooperation between the clubs regarding the transfer of players, and number of boards of directors’ meetings, job support for players and winning rewards for all junior teams.

At the end of the meeting, H.E. Maj. Gen. Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the State’s wise leadership for their superior role in supporting the UAE sport. He stressed that the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of ADC, attaches great importance to providing all kinds of support to achieve progress and excellence in sports sector. He also underlined that ADC is keen to promote joint coordination, cooperation and communication between the clubs through participating in presenting suggestions, advanced experiences and seeking to employ the best global applications and practices within the performance system of football, other sports and investment in the manner that helps translate the goals of development and advancement of the status of UAE sport.

H.E. Maj. Gen. Al Rumaithi pointed out that the meeting was rich with opinions, discussions and distinguished experiences based on all attendees’ joint care and responsibility which represents a rallying point for all. He expressed his thanks to the representatives of the five clubs of Abu Dhabi for their active role and their great interest and communication among them in order to ensure the success of the Committee’s mission and future objectives.
