UAE Team is Ready for the Tokyo Judo Mondial.. Tamimi UAE Candidate Wins by Acclamation the Position of the Secretary-General of the International Judo Federation Fund

H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Deri, President of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Federation (UAEWJF), contacted Hungary’s, Marius Pfizer, the President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), on Thursday 19th August 2019 apologizing for being unable to attend the events of the World Judo Championship scheduled to be held Japan’s capital Tokyo during 25-31 August 2019.

Noteworthy, the JDF General Assembly is scheduled to be held during activities of the championship.

H.E. Al Deri has tasked Nasser Al Tamimi, the Secretary-General of the UAEWJF to attend the sessions of the General Assembly and to convey his greetings and appreciation to the organizing committee of the championship for their kind invitation.

H.E. Al Deri received this invitation as one of the ambassadors of the International Judo Federation for Extraordinary Friendship and Peace. He also holds the Honor Card signed by the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the IJF Honorary President, recognized by 200 member states.

H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Deri promised to attend the future sessions and wished the organizing committee of the championship all the best and to achieve the desired goals.

He also extended his sincerest best wishes of success to the UAE National Team participating in the championship chaired by H.E. Naser Al Tamimi, the UAEWJF Secretary-General and IJF Secretary-General, in addition to Maitha Al Neyadi, the Emirati judo player who participates in the weight under 57 kg., Victor in the weight under 73 kg, and Ivan in under 100 kg.. the championship sees the participation of 149 countries, including 11 Arab countries.

During the activities of the championship, the IJF General Assembly is scheduled to be held to elect the new Board of Directors in its new session which extends until 2023, on Friday 23rd August 2019.

It was reported that the UAE candidate Nasser Al Tamimi would retain his position as no other candidates have been nominated to compete to occupy the position. Reports stated that Al Tamimi enjoys an excellent reputation and great relationships with the representatives of the state members. Add to that, he gained vast and deep experience through his work, and it is proved by being able to diversify the IJF income sources which are fulfilled via various sources.
Reports also highlighted his extraordinary media efforts that contributed to the establishment of many Judo training and development centers.

Based on the above facts, H.E. Naser Tamimi won by acclamation the position of the Secretary-General of the IJF Fund for the fourth session in a row, which began since the 2007 season.

On the other hand, 26 countries confirmed their participation in the eleventh edition of the Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Slam “Tolerance” Championship, which will be held during 24-26 October 2019 in Abu Dhabi.

Al Deri hailed holding the championship under the title “Tolerance Championship” as part of the “Tolerance Year” initiative launched by His Highness the President of the UAE to foster the position of the UAE as the global capital of tolerance.
Notably, this year championship will witness the participation of World’s Refugees Team for the first time. The involvement of the refugees’ team comes as an actual realization of the strategy of the IJF.

Additionally, the Tolerance Judo Championship will see the participation of Curacao, one of the islands of the Caribbean, for the first time.
