The Head Coach of Al Ain FC Zoran Mamic congratulated his squad for the deserved victory over Bani Yas FC while saying that “the team played strongly since the kickoff whistle, played in our style and dominated the match. We had numerous chances to score that could help us to finish the match early, but players did not deal with it in the right way.”

He added: “The midfielders played today with a significant level of harmony and carried out their tasks professionally and with high level of accuracy. The same applies to the back line. All of them were focused since the beginning to the end of the match.”

“The league will be suspended again for nearly three weeks and the international players will join the UAE National Team. This will make our mission in the cup competition difficult. We are still waiting for the list of names to be attached to the first and Olympic national teams, in addition to Hussein El Shahat and Marcus Berg who will join their national teams in the coming hours,” he said.

Commenting on the secret behind not conceding any goal for the first time since the kickoff of the current season, he stated: “As I stated earlier, the whole team were at their top-level tonight and were highly focused since the kickoff whistle until the last minute. All the players were up to the expectations and fulfilled their tasks as required.” Zoran put an accent on the performance of “Ajab” saying that “Since the past season he has been performing well. Ajab is one of the best local players for his quality skills and he always so keen to exhibit his genuine fighting spirit in all the team’s matches.”

On his satisfaction with the performance with the front line as he only hailed the midfielders and defenders, he commented: “Definitely, we created numerous chances in tonight’s match, but we still need to score more goals. I believe Rayan did well this match and personally so pleased to have him again onboard and hope his injury will be minor. Also, I am happy to see El Shahat back again to his normal level. Berg and Caio need to be better, given they are significant players and they need continuous support.”

As for his opinion with regard to the referee’s decision, he said: “It is difficult to assess the referee’s decisions as there is an entity that is in charge of this. Also, I cannot confirm whether the foul committed against Jamal Marouf inside the box and the handball case committed by Bani Yas defender inside the box. However, I could not find a sensible interpretation for the referee’s behavior not to refer to the VAR and see the screen to ensure that he took the right decision.” He signed off by stating I wonder why he placed the ball at the edge line of the box and whether the line is part of the box or not or it was a penalty kick!!
