“We did not deserve to lose the match against the home team,” Ivan Leko, head coach of Al Ain First Team, opened the post-match press conference dedicated for the matchweek 3 of Al Ain Vs. Al Sharjah ended by 3-2 in favor of the home team.

He added: “Tonight’s match was different, and my squad performed well and had the upper hand over the opponent most of the time. the match had critical moments, and we were so close to seal the result match by 3-1, but the VAR had another opinion and ruled out our third goal.”

In response to a question on not controlling the critical players of Al Sharjah, particularly Igor Coronado, he said: “I believe this player deserves to be awarded the title of Man of the Match. He was the best player in the last season, and in this match, he scored two and assisted in scoring the third. Add to that, our central midfielder Ahmad Barman was injured, and this is why his performance declined in certain moments of the match.”

Leko addressed a message to the loyal Ainawi fans by expressing his sincerest and deepest appreciation for their continuous support in Al Wasl and Al Sharjah stadiums. “I feel disappointed for going back to Al Ain city with zero points, and I do promise the fans that we will work hard to correct the mistake and focus on achieving the desired goals.”
