The head coach of Al Ain FC extended his deep appreciation and thanks for the management of the club for granting him the opportunity to be the head coach of one of the biggest clubs in Asia. He stated: “I am so proud of the great time I spent with the team and despite losing tonight’s match we achieved the most important goal, that is qualifying to the AFC Champions League 2020.”

He stated in the post-match press conference that he is a professional coach who knows how to deal with good and bad times. “I understand the current situation and why the management has not discussed the issue of renewing my contract to date. It is the right of the club to select the coach who is able to fulfill the goals of the coming stage. Indeed, if the management expressed their intent to renew my contract it is my pleasure and if they are planning not to do so, I respect their decision and so proud of the great time I spent with the team.”

He added: “The match was good although we played it facing difficult circumstances for missing our main key players, including Ismael Ahmad, Ahmad Barman, Jamal Marouf, Mohammed Ahmad and Mohammed Fayez. Above all is that we missed several easy chances to score.”

Garrido pointed out that the turning point in the match was sending Mohannad El Enezi out by the red card and that he is not sure whether he deserved it or not. “It is difficult to play against one of the best front line while your team is down by one man. They were able to take advantage of this gap and scored their goal. However, Al Ain players did well and we granted the chance for a group of young players, namely Khalid Al Bloushi and Falah Walid who will be the core for the future team.”
