Ivan Leko opened the post-match press conference by stating that his team performed well against the home team, Al Dhafra, and created numerous genuine chances to score until they were able to take the lead.

“In the second half, Al Dhafra boosted up their performance, but my squad dealt with the details of the match with full concentration and with the mentality to win the match. They got what they planned to achieve and sealed a great victory in the right time of the match,” Leko said.

Leko extended his congrats to his non-international players for their dedication and fighting spirit. “Winning this match gives the non-international players the authentic motivation to keep on winning the opponents and achieving great positive results. I want to congratulate them for such a stunning performance and hope they will keep it up until the end of the season by boosting and doubling their efforts and showing seriousness and commitment during the training sessions.”

Commenting on a question on whether winning this match means that the team is back to victories track in the league, he said: “I do not prefer to talk about the circumstances of the last two matches of the team in the league, specifically against Al Jazira and Bani Yas. However, Al Ain is always required to perform honorably and win all their matches. This means we have to improve the team’s performance further each match.”

On the team he is expecting to face in the next stage of the Arabian Gulf Cup, he pointed out: “I only focus on making my team ready for the next challenge regardless of the identity of the opponent, and this applies to all competitions. The most important thing for me is to be fully ready and fit to win any match.”
