A day ahead of the Al Ain squad’s round 5th match of ACL-2020, Portuguese Pedro Emmanuel stated that his team would be having a new challenge against a good team in the pre-match press conference. He also stressed that the challenge this time is to win the opponent and snatch the match’s three points.

Pedro Emmanuel added: “It is a fact that we are playing in a tough group and all teams are qualified to win. We respect the opponent’s aspirations, and we analyzed their performance during their past two matches. The team performed well, and they were organized. They still have the chance to qualify, but as for us, we are playing to score goals and have a clean sheet.”

Responding to a question on grounds for not passing the group stage since 2018: he pointed out: “Yes, this is true. However, it is something of the past that we cannot change. We have to focus on the present and what we are meant to do to win all our upcoming matches.”

He went on to say that it is possible to talk about the last four matches that his team played this season and that “when it comes to our responsibility, we analyze the performance to improve it. We lost to Sepahan at home and will fight to achieve the best result in the upcoming two matches to improve our position in the standing table.”

He also said: “I would like to point out that we have a strong team and we can change ourselves in the future. Our goal is to prove that Al Ain is a big team, which is the most important challenge we have at present.”

“If we would talk about the past, Al Ain won the title in 2003 and in future we could do that again. Currently, we are required to fight to win the three points,” Pedro said.

He signed off by saying that he has concerns for playing a match every three days, which applies to all head coaches.
