Jamal Marouf Underwent a Successful Surgery and Needs 6 Months to Back into Form

“The results of the COVID-19 screening test of all members of the Al Ain FC mission were negative. The players conducted the Al Ain International Airport test on Friday early morning upon their arrival via a private jet. They all directly quarantined in one of Al Ain City hotels,” the Medical Committee of Al Ain Football Club Company officially announced.

The committee emphasized that all members of the Al Ain Club mission completed the quarantine procedures per the regulations in force regarding those who are traveling to the UAE from abroad and per the circulars issued by the competent official authorities. They would also be subject to periodical tests during the quarantine period per the medical protocol adopted by the Al Ain Club.

In this regard, the Medical Committee announced that Al Ain’s striker Jamal Marouf underwent successful surgery at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain City on Friday evening. The committee confirmed that the player needs nearly six months to back into form and train with the team. Jamal would join a rehabilitation program and special individual training sessions dedicated to improving muscle strength and boosting physical fitness.

Dr. Talal Al Khazraji, Chairman of the Medical Committee, expressed his sincerest appreciation and gratitude for Abu Dhabi Airports for their dedication and significant cooperation, particularly at Al Ain International Airport.

“Their staff completed all the procedures in ideal time, in addition to providing an ambulance to send Jamal Marouf, who suffered from an injury during the team’s round 6 match of ACL-2020 against Saudi Arabia Al Nasr, directly to hospital,” Dr. Al Khazraji stated.

He also thanked the management of Tawam Hospital for their prompt actions and conducting the required medical checkups and the surgery under the supervision of Dr. Husam Rahma.

Dr. Al Khazraji pointed out that the Medical Committee was in direct contact with the head and the delegation members during the past period to check on the general situation.

He added: “Upon arrival to the airport, Jamal Marouf completed all the quarantine procedures before leaving to Tawam Hospital to conduct the comprehensive medical tests and commencing his medical treatment programs.”

In turn, Dr. Husam Rahma, Orthopedic Surgeon Consultant and Head of the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Department at Tawam Hospital and a member of the Medical Committee of the Al Ain Football Club Company, who supervised the surgery of Jamal Marouf said: “All the tests that the player underwent yesterday morning at Tawam Hospital showed that suffered from left foot fibula bone fracture, in addition to an ankle ligament injury.”

He went on to say that the player underwent a successful one-hour and a half surgery. “The player is currently in perfect condition, and he is scheduled to start his rehabilitation program directly to be ready to return to the individual training sessions after six weeks. He would enroll in rehabilitation programs for a period of three months to restore his physical fitness in preparation for participating in his team’s group exercises.”
