Al Ain Football Club Company has officially announced this morning the extension of the contract of the resident player, Brazil’s Jonatas de Santos, “20 years old”. The player will defend the Boss badge, under his new contract, alongside his teammates in the first team until 2025.

Abdullah Ali, Supervisor of the First Football Team, availed this opportunity to congratulate Jonatas for extending his contract. He also expressed his pleasure to renew his contract as he and his teammates showed an apparent desire to win opponents, be accountable, show their fighting spirit, and improve significant progress in performance that he made.

“Considering all these qualities, Jonatas won the trust of the coaching teams, admin staff, players, and fans of the team,” Abdullah said.

He added: “The Board of Directors of Al Ain Football Club Company approved the recommendation submitted by the Al Ain Club Pro Committee to renew the player’s contract to motivate him to do his best and to redouble his efforts and boost his level of concentration during the coming matches. Indeed, he proved to everyone that he was up to it. Therefore, we wish him and his teammates all the best of luck.”

In response to a question about the unexpected drop in certain players’ performance, he said: “We always stress that the responsibility for losing any match is collective. We could not blame any player for that, but we are all required to boost the confidence in everyone because Al Ain’s strategy depends on the principle of integration of roles in pitch.”

“Each player is tasked to play offensive and defensive roles during the 90 minutes of the match. In addition, we held a meeting chaired by the head coach and attended by all the players after that match and discussed the situation transparently,” he said.

He also hailed the role played by the fans stressing that Al Ain fans enjoy the ideal culture of cheering up and sportsmanship. They understand the importance of supporting the players at the current stage, and we cannot push the players to play well without showing and proving our complete trust in them to achieve the team’s goals, given that we know how skillful they are.

Commenting on a question regarding the team’s program during the current break, he said: “The team’s schedule during the coming period approved ahead of time and subject to amendments in line with the schedules of local leagues and competitions. The team is scheduled to play two friendly matches. The first match will be played on 24th January against Al Taawon of the UAE First Division League, and the second match will be against Armenia’s Pyunik Yerevan FC on 29th January during the closed home training camp that will be held in Abu Dhabi during 26-31 January 2022.”

Abdullah Ali pointed out that the behind doors camp is vital to get all players in form, particularly the injured. He mentioned that Sultan Al Shamesi is back to the training sessions, and Kouame Autonne is ready to join the team’s collective training sessions soon.

The Team Supervisor stated that the head coach has already selected certain players to form the Al Ain Football Academy to join the team’s home training camp to give them the opportunity to train with the first team players, which is sure will trigger their motivation to improve their performance further.
