Being held at a 1-1 draw in matchweek 6 of the Arabian Gulf Cup against Ittihad Kalba, Ivan Leko, head coach of Al Ain Team, stated: “It was our intention and the main goal to win the guests. However, the draw result is not that bad.”

He also indicated in the post-match media conference that his team’s performance in the first half was not satisfactory. “We had many chances, and we took advantage of only one to take the lead in the first half.”

Ivan said that he urged the players in the changing room before resuming the second half to push themselves to the limit and enjoy playing real football on the pitch.

Commenting on a question on Mohammed Hilal’s performance, he pointed out: “It is my core business here to improve all the players’ performance, including Mohammed Hilal, to be the best. Mohammed is training well, and as I stated in the pre-match press conference, my strategy is crystal-clear, i.e., the only way to have your name listed in the starting lineup is the perfect performance during the training sessions.”
