“We must work hard to improve many aspects of the team’s performance despite the good result we achieved in our recent match against Al Bataeh,” Sergiy Rebrov opened the pre-match press conference of matchweek 14 of ADNOC Pro League against Ajman.

Ahead of the match scheduled to be held on Friday, 27th January 2023, he pointed out that the Boss squad will play against a different opponent while stressing Ajman’s performance in their last match against Shabab Al Ahli down by one man does not reflect the team’s actual performance.

Rebrov confirmed that this season is so critical for the Boss squad and indicated that they would play against tough teams and should prepare themselves seriously.

Responding to a question on whether the results of the recent and next match will serve the team’s best interest and improve their position on the standing table, he said: “I always stress that we should focus on our affairs and deal with each match separately regardless of the points gap between Al Ain and the top team. We all must focus on playing a strong game against Ajman Team, who are well organized defensively.”

He added: “Although we are playing at home, we must show our strengths on the pitch; otherwise, we would have few chances to score. All the players should show a genuine desire to win the guests. Furthermore, as we are playing at home, I am sure the fans will be behind the team in the stands, and we will have the upper hand in this match.”

The Boss head coach indicated that the team works hard to improve their performance, and it is a fact that all teams contending to clinch the league title seek to have balance among the team’s lines and not only the front line.

“I trust that my team’s players understand this very well. Therefore, we work together to improve further all issues related to their performance. Yes, we have significant strikers, but when we score a goal, it is the team’s collective efforts and not the strikers only. The same applies to the defensive system we adopt. Defending our net starts from the front line and strikers. I can notice such an improvement during the team’s recent matches and training sessions.”

He hailed the efforts exerted by the loyal Ainawi fans by saying: “In our recent match against Al Bataeh, I wondered that it was only the Ainawi fans who were in the stands of the stadium and they were 99% of the total fans, regardless of their numbers.”

Rebrov considers this a critical source of motivation for the players to win the opponent. In addition, he stated that their presence behind the team helped them to achieve positive results.

“Since this match will be held at home, we will play as usual for them, and any result achieved by the team will be the output of the combined efforts,” he said.

He concluded his statement by addressing an invitation to the fans to attend the match as players need their support. Their presence is essential to motivate the players to do their best.
