Portuguese Pedro Emmanuel stressed in the post-match media conference of his team’s match against Al Wasl of the President’s Cup that the match was so important and strong one.

He stated: “Our players should recover soon after exerting lots of efforts in the recent confrontations. I made changes in the style of playing as we are missing several players due to injuries. We add to the starting lineup the names that could make the difference mainly in controlling the ball and scoring goals. I believe if the squad’s performance is going to be in the way as we played against Al Wasl, we will have more issues in the future.”

“it is not normal to play a match that ends with 11 goals. In such matches, the fans’ emotions of both teams will be intense,” Pedro commented on the result of the match.

He added: “Although Al Wasl was down by one man for receiving a red card, their players scored the team’s fifth goal. By the end of the day, we achieved our target that we planned to achieve and congrats for the players of both teams. I have to thank the Boss players for they drew a big smile on the faces of the fans who were present in the stands to support their team.”

Commenting again on the result of the match and reasons for conceding fie goals, he pointed out: “The most important thing is that we achieved out the target and qualified to the semifinal as I stated earlier. It is perfect for the fans of the team to see 11 goals in one match, but as a head coach, I did not want to see this number of goals. However, we succeeded in our mission and won a powerful opponent.”

As for the injury of Caio Canedo and whether it severe or not, he commented: “It is difficult to talk about his injury right now. But as you all know, Caio is an important player, and tonight he did it and scored two goals. We would assess his injury and how serious it is following conducting the medical checkups tomorrow. Caio for me exactly like Laba, and we all agree that the latter is the man of this match.”

Responding to a question on the real motivation to win this match and qualify for the next stage, he said: “Winning matches is a critical issue for any team and not only Al Ain Team. Al Ain is participating in three competitions, and we are required to win all our matches. This requires us to analyze the team’s performance as well as any opponent.”

He concluded by staying: “If we compared between Al Wasl and Al Ain, we would find that Al Wasl has played only one match in the past two weeks while Al Ain played four matches. Also, on 27th February we have another match, and this has a negative impact on the players’ recovery, and Al Ain and Al Wasl also miss certain  players due to injury.”
