Laba and Caio Goals Secures the Three Points for Al Ain

Al Ain squad secured a significant 2-1 win against Hatta at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Matchweek 4 of the Arabian Gulf League on Saturday 19th October 2019.

The first half ended with the Boss taking the lead by 1-0 scored by Brazil’s Caio Canedo from the penalty point “43”. In the second half, the guests leveled up the result through Ricardo Valente “68” and then Laba scored the winning goal at “82”.

By this result, Al Ain moves up to the top three with nine points from four matches, while Hatta freezes at four points and placed in the tenth spot.

Al Ain waited 43 minutes to announce that they have the upper hand. Caio Canedo pounced on a loose ball inside the box and was set to apply the finish when Mahmoud Qassem clattered into him from behind, and the referee instantly pointed to the spot. Canedo stepped up and fired into the bottom corner to break the deadlock and put Al Ain in front three minutes before the break.

Al Ain suffered a blow halfway through the opening period as Jamal Marouf was stretched off following a heavy challenge from Cleylton “24”. Mohammed Khalfan was brought on to replace him. Al Ain continued to struggle with injuries as substitute Khalfan had to be taken off just 25 minutes after his introduction. Andrija Radovanovic came on in added time “45”.

The first half ended by taking the lead by 1-0.

Hatta brought the game level in the 66th minute after Ricardo Valente capitalized on a penalty box scrimmage to tap the ball in from inches out.

Ivan Leko’s Al Ain retook the lead as Canedo turned from scorer to provider, setting Laba with a pinpoint cross from the right flank and the Togolese striker guided it home with a diving header to win it for the Boss with eight minutes to go, and then the match referee whistled to end the match while the screen shows the result 2-1 in favor of Al Ain.
