The new head coach of the Boss, Iraqi Ghazi Fahad, extended his sincerest congratulations to the stars of his squad for qualifying to the quarterfinal stage of the President’s Cup following winning Dibba Al Hisn 2-0.

He underlined that the opponent did their best throughout the whole minutes of the match. “However, Al Ain players, even those who did not play for a long time, sincerely showed that they are responsible and exhibited a genuine desire and fighting spirit. This led them to win the match.”

Ghazi also expressed his most profound appreciation to the Board of Directors of the Al Ain Club for their trust in him to be the head coach of the first team even if it is “temporary”.

He added: “So proud as Al Ain is one of the biggest club in Asia and the runners up of the FIFA Club World Cup- UAE 2018. I can assure you that to train such a big team is an honor and a crucial task. I was raised in this club, and I will remain available to fulfill my obligations at any position the management of the club sees appropriate.”

As for assuming his responsibilities at very short notice before two days of the team’s match against Dibba Al Hisn, he said: “When you lead the team in such critical current circumstances, you played such a match as players match. We held meetings with the players, and all of them showed their unfailing desire to changing the recent team’s image. We selected the excluded players. I could say that although it is a temporary mission and we have several absent players, the players proved that they are up to it as they used to doing”

Commenting on a question on reasons behind not seeing massive numbers of fans attending the team’s matches, he said: “Al Ain’s fans used to winning champions ad titles and do not accept any level of unsatisfactory performance. They have the right to be annoyed by the team results. At any rate, the next stage requires consolidating our efforts and boost the spirit of the team in line with the integrity of the roles. We have to promote mutual trust among the members of our big club.”

Ghazi concluded the press conference by wishing his team’s players all the best.
