Spain’s Head Coach of Al Ain FC, Juan Carlos Garrido opened the post-match press conference of the last round of Group Stage of ACL 2019 by stating: “Our match against Esteghlal Tehran indeed is a great chance to say goodbye to some members of the team at home as stated in the pre-match press conference of the match. We looked forward to winning the match to conclude our current season, but we were not lucky enough to do so.”

He added: “Al Ain stars did well and fight intensely until the last moment of the match. However, the final result was in favor of the guests who were able to take the lead in the last minute of the first half. The second goal was the turning point and we could not equalize.”

He went on to say that “I believe that the match was balanced, and the match referee awarded the opponent team undeserved penalty kick while he did not award Mohammed Khalfan a clear penalty kick. If he had referred to the VAR, he would have changed his decision.”

Responding to a question on his team’s clash match he said: “We all well aware of the importance of the coming and final match of the league against Al Wahda which will determine the team who will qualify to the AFC Champions League 2020. We are so keen to do our best and make sure that we are eligible to qualify to the ACL 2020.”
