Ivić: We were the best side on the pitch… While small details prevented us from claiming match’s three points
Vladimir Ivić, who is the Serbian head coach of Al Ain first football team, emphasized that his team played a powerful derby match vs their guest Al Wahda Club, he also stressed that the overall performance reflects his team’s personality and its potential to compete until the final stage of competitions. These remarks came after the positive draw 2-2 in today’s match during the competition race of ADNOC Pro League football tournament.
During the post-match evaluative press conference, Al Ain Club’s head coach said the following statement: “We were in the lead in two occasions, 0-1 and 2-1, while our team was the best during match’s first half. During match’s second half, we continued to dictate the tempo of play and created more scoring attempts. We managed to score two goals after a successful group effort; we were also successful in reaching the danger zone more than once.”
He added the following statement: “Al Wahda Club has a great experience with which they knew how to leverage on the small details, they were also successful in scoring goals without relying on clear scoring attempts. After our powerful start in match’s second half, we took the lead in score, we also played with numerical advantage after the red card for the competing team’s player. We were also required to show more composure for the sake of scoring the third goal and securing match’s final result.”
The Serbian head coach continued with the following statement: “In the realm of football, at any moment you give space to a distinguished player it could be exploited against you, and that’s exactly what happened in a particular occasion. A mistake is not the responsibility of a certain player, rather, it is a collective responsibility, which is the nature of this game.”
Over his evaluation of this season’s progress, Al Ain Club’s head coach explained with the following remarks: “The first half of this season was very important for me. We worked rigorously from the beginning; we were also successful in occupying the top position from this season’s kick off. There are still many matches ahead of us, so we have to concentrate over each match alone, in addition to dealing with a positive mentality and with a high fighting spirit.”
He concluded his speech with an emphasis over his confidence in his team, despite the close proximity of the competing teams on the tournament’s standings table, so he said the following statement: “I am not feeling worried as we are close to reaching our sought after goal, and we will keep fighting for the sake of realizing this goal until the end.”
