Crespo: We did not show our required performance against Al Ahly
Al Ain Argentine head coach, Hernán Crespo , congratulated Egypt’s Al Ahly club on winning the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup after defeating his team 3-0, emphasizing that the opponent performed better than his team during the match.
Commenting on a question about the influence of Al Ahly fans on the final result, he said: “Actually, Al Ahly fans were influential in the stadium, the stands were amazingly packed, and playing among such ecstatic masses is an important motivation for victory.”
Regarding playing on the opponent’s home field in thistournament, he said: “We respect FIFA’s regulations that approved holding the match at Cairo Stadium, but we did not show the required performance against Al Ahly, who played on their home field and among their fans. Sometimes, teams pay a hefty price for individual mistakes. We should have offered a better performance, but we must learn from our mistakes and improve our performance.“
