H.E. Mohamed Obaid Hammad, Member of the Board of Directors of the Al Ain Club Football Company and Supervisor of the First and Reserve Teams, confirmed that the medical tests performed by Egypt’s international player, Hussein El Shahat, following his injury during the match against Al Jazira showed that he needs a 72-hour break prior joining the team in their training sessions. He further explained: “Zoran Mamic decided to replace the player following his injury for his safety. MRI shows that he is fine, and he only suffers from a minor bruise in his ankle.”

“It is certain that the team has achieved an important victory over a strong team at home and among their fans and this gives Al Ain a great chance to compete to win the title of the Arabian Gulf League,” said he in response to a question on his Al Ain’s victory over Al Jazira. He added: “Al Ain moving forward confidently from one stage to another in pursuit of its goals. We all were hoping that the AGL competition will go on without any interruptions as the whole team is in excellent physical and technical condition.”

He also said:” The head coach has already granted a break time for a number of players, while others have joined the UAE national football teams. This definitely affects the team, but we do understand the situation as the UAE National Football Team is preparing for its upcoming challenges in the days of FIFA. However, we were hoping that the interruption period comes after Al Ain wins the title of AGL.”

“Definitely, the team will resume their training sessions following the end of the break time until the time when the rest of the “international” players rejoined them. We hope that the preparation phase will be is successful and that players come back with the highest degree of physical readiness,” commented he.

As for the requirements of the next stage, he said: “It is a fact that the team will face decisive and crucial challenges in the next phase, beginning with our match against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal scheduled to be held on 2nd April 2018 as part of the 5th round of the AFC Champions League.” he stressed :” This match is the most important one in the team’s journey in the championship as it is the key for the team to qualify to the next stage. Following this match, the team will play against Dibba in matchweek 20 of the Arabian Gulf League which is also a crucial match in the league. both matches will be held in Hazza bin Zayed Stadium and everyone is waiting for the fans’ strong and massive support to achieve the desired goals.”
