Al Ain Vs. Al-Fayhaa, a triple victory by Laba and Rahimi.. “Al Zaeem” is the first qualifier for the Round of 16 in the2023-2024 AFC Champions League
“Al Zaeem” officially announced its qualification to the Round of 16 in the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League as the first team from the western part of the continent to advance to the second round. This came after their 3-2 victory over AlFayhaa, KSA in the match held today at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, as part of the fourth round of Group 1 matches.
The first half ended with Al Ain leading the home team with two goals. Laba Kodjo scored two goals, 29’ and 40’, and Soufiane Rahimi scored the third goal, 64’. Meanwhile, AFayhaa scored two goals by Anthony Nwakaeme, 53’, and Mohannad Al Qaedi, 90+6’.
In the second match of the same Group held on Tuesday also, the Turkmen Ahal and the Uzbek Pakhtakor ended with a 1-1 draw at the multi-purpose stadium in Ashgabat.
Al Ain boosted their lead at the top of the Group standings with a full 12 points from four matches, Pakhtakor and Ahal both have 4 points from four matches, while Al Fayhaa hasonly 3 points. Therefore, Al Ain secured the top spot in the group and qualification to the Round of 16.
