Amer Abdurrahman, Al Ain and National team player, felt incredibly happy and congratulated everyone on reaching the AFC final. Nevertheless, he was unsatisfied; “Our happiness will only be complete when we win the title as our former colleagues did in 2003,” he said.

Commenting on the game proceedings, Amer said: “We managed to open the scoreboard first as we planned; but after, that we fell back for no good reason, and this enabled Al Jaish to score twice. Then, we fell back more, which should not have happened; however, thank God, we finally managed to score a tie goal and advanced to the final.”

Asked about how he overcame the problem of not playing for more than 20 days, Amer said: “Every player should prepare himself to play at any moment. I was ready in the National team’s game against Thailand but I didn’t play, and I also was ready in the game against Saudi Arabia but I didn’t play. I think that a two-week period is not long or worrying, and – thank God – I played against Al Jaish and participated in achieving the goal of advancing to the AFC final.”

He firmly believes that Al Ain deserves to play the final; “I think it is in the interest of the Asian football sports to have Al Ain playing the final with all its stars there like Omar Abdurrahman, the finest player in Asia, Caio, Lee-Myung, Asprilla, Ismail, Mohannad and others. Yes, Al Ain stars deserve to play the final.”

Finally, Amer Abdurrahman thanked Al Ain fans who showed up at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium to support players and considered them ‘the player No. 12’. He also hoped to make them happy again with the Asian title.
