Meeting the “international” striker Laba Kodjo, the player of Al Ain Club and the top scorer of our league, is special because it is characterized by spontaneity, transparency and credibility. For this reason, we subconsciously found ourselves diving into the depths. Our search did not last long to discover within Laba the human being who devoted his life to adopt projects specialized in community service in his country Togo, helping the poor, caring for orphans and extending a helping hand to the needy, so he is considered in his homeland Togo one of the most important figures supporting society.
We had a quick interview with him on “The Best” and we believe that it is worth watching after he revealed to you the most important milestones in his life and explained the main reasons for his successes.
The best goal
I believe that my goal against Al-Wahda Club, at Al Nahyan Stadium, which gave us the advantage two seasons ago, is my best goal, for nothing but the fact that the host team was competing for the title. So to win the match there, strengthened our chances, especially after we reduced the difference to seven points, and I believe that this goal is important in winning the 2021-2022 league title.
The best moment
Among the immortal moments in my memory, I can say that it was the moment of the birth of my daughter, Jordin, because I was away from my family, and my wife was at the time in my country, and I could not sleep that night and waited until I heard the sound of my little girl crying.
Best goal making
There are several goals that I scored through wonderful passes, but I believe that captain Bandar Al Ahbabi’s pass in our match against Al Jazira at home was the best. Because I was in an offside position, and when Bandar received the ball, I ran back and after he passed the ball, I kicked it directly and scored the goal.
Best comment
In general, from the beautiful comments that I do not forget, I remember that during one of my visits to France, I shook hands with one of the children, and then he sent me a picture and told me in writing, “My brother. I will cover my hand to keep this memory. It was a surprise to me.”
Best way of celebrating a goal
My favorite goal celebration I think is the traditional dance “Abaga” In my first season with the team I used to celebrate after scoring all my goals in the same way. But after the death of my father, I celebrated by raising my hands up for my father. This is the best way to celebrate scoring goals in addition to the traditional dance, as I told you.
Best fans’ song
Al Ain fans are the best for me in the UAE and always when I’m on the field I hear the fans say, “Oh… Ainawi, oh… Ainawi”. The way how they sing it motivates me, increases my self-confidence, strengthens my determination to defend the slogan, and gives me positive energy. Thank you to all Al Ain fans.
Best friend
I joined the Al Ain team in 2019 and I felt that we are one family and interdependent, as if we were brothers linked by blood, and it is difficult for me to identify a specific name as my best friend among my teammates, but I can say, for example, Bandar Al Ahbabi , we always talk together, he is the captain of the team and we all respect him very much.
My life project
I started many projects, but I can say that my project “LKF9” is related to community and humanitarian initiatives, to provide gifts throughout the season to fans, visit schools at the end of the school year to provide meals and celebrate with the poor, as well as visit patients in hospitals. You can imagine the extent of their suffering, so I consider this project one of my biggest and best projects. Praise be to God who has given me good and that I am repaying the debt to these children, and I will continue to do so throughout my life if God destined me to do so. Also I will not stop these works abecause it makes me ,specially to donate for these children.
Spain camp
I can say that the situation here in the summer preparatory camp is very good, and that the new players got along with everyone in training directly, as if we had been playing together for two seasons. We are one family here, we eat together and sometimes sing songs together, but during training sessions we work hard and do all things together and motivate each other to develop our skills, and we always stress that we are one family and one team, and that we all have to do everything that is required of us together and they understand this. From the first day we arrived at the camp until now, I feel happy to see this wonderful group, and all the services and facilities are of a distinguished level, and I assure you that if we maintain this level of performance, we can achieve many good things in the new season.
