In a statement to the press, H.E Mohamed Obeid ‘Hammad’, Board member of Al Ain FC Company and Supervisor of Al Ain First and Support Teams, clarified two issues: injuries and sanctions.

He assured that Douglas Dyanfres’ injury is not serious; “It’s a minor muscle rupture and nothing to worry about. Till our game versus Sharjah on 17th December at HBZ Stadium, perhaps Dyanfres would have recovered and can play.”

Regarding Saeed Al Menhali, Hammad said: “His injury may take a longer time to recover; we’re waiting for the medical report about his clinical examination yesterday. Saeed is expected to fly to Germany within a few hours to see a consultant knee surgeon in Munich who will determine when Saeed can play again.”

He also assured that both Mohamed Fayez and Mohamed Ahmad are currently having their rehab program abroad in order to be able to join back.

On the other hand, Hammad expressed his outrage at the recent disciplinary suspension against Ismail Ahmad calling on the Pro League Committee which approved the sanction against Asprilla last round to assume its responsibility of putting the AGL Competition on the right track again after refereeing has become the weakest area in the most powerful local competition.

“We also request the Committee to follow the example of EUFA of reconsidering the referees’ decisions and to annul the red and yellow cards which were shown to Ismail Ahmad and Mohamed Abdurrahman respectively during Al Ain FC’s game versus Al Wahda because they don’t deserve these sanctions,” he claimed.

He went on to say: “The situation entails a brave stance by everyone; otherwise, we’ll be surprised one day with adverse decisions suspending or banning our players from training till the end of the season. Our fears are based on the regrettable incidents which have recently taken place in the most powerful local competition.”
