The Dutch coach, Alfred Schreuder, expressed his happiness with the performance of his team players and the result achieved by Al Ain against its host team, Al Bataeh Club, with a score of 5-0, in the first round of the ADIB Cup competition, stressing: “The team showed a balanced performance between attack and defense against a good and organized team. Our mission against such a team was certainly not easy, and we imposed absolute control over the course of the game. I am also proud of all players’ performance, especially the ones who did not have the opportunity to participate as starters during the past matches, such as Mohammed Shaker and Sultan Al Shamsi, in addition to the young players who performed well and dealt with the course of the game with a great mentality, which is important and required of Al Ain players”.
He added: I am also pleased to congratulate the Al Ain fans, especially those who attended the games today and supported the players throughout the match, and we certainly expect strong support from the Al Ain fans, especially at our home stadium in the second–legmatch against Al Bataeh Club, on the fourteenth of next month.
Regarding his comment on the performance of the young players, he said: “I previously mentioned that I am proud of them; as they showed high potential and approved that they have a professional mentality, and we know that they take up to the challenge and ready to play at any time, because we saw that in training and I have to trust my whole team and not just 11 players;as I have a team of 20 to 24 players. So, if they prove that they can play and take the chance, I’m not afraid to start the match with them.”
Regarding the pressure of matches, he said: “We know at the end of September, October and November we’ll be playing a lot of upcoming matches, so it’s good for me to see that I have a strong squad while I can pick players to play the match, that’s why they play also due to they play a lot of games with the national team and they need some rest.
In response to a question about not including Laba’sname in his list of the squad, he said: “Yes, we spoke this morning with Laba, and he was feeling a little tired, so we decided not to start the match with him, and I wanted to preserve the player’s safety”.
