FIFA Activates Using Colored Cards against Coaching and Admin Teams at the bench area in Club World Cup UAE 2018

The FIFA held a qualifying technical meeting dedicated for the match of Al Ain against Team Wellington at the Football Lounge in the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium. The meeting was chaired by Pavel Luzanov, the FIFA General Coordinator for the Club World Cup- UAE 2018 and attended by the match and the two team’s officials.

During the meeting, FIFA representatives reviewed the latest updates and amendments on the tournament’s regulations. The Match Commissioner tackled in detail the new rules to be implemented by the match referee, including using the yellow and red cards against, coaching, administrative and medical teams on the bench. “The match referee is entitled as per the new amendments to use the yellow card against the head coach or coaches or any one available in the bench or technical area prior using the red card to send them off the pitch. Colored cards were only used against players, but from now onwards it includes the aforementioned individuals,” he stated.

It was determined also that Al Ain is to wear the full white kit, while Team Wellington is to wear their full black kit.
