H.E Mohamed Obeid ‘Hammad’, Board member of Al Ain FC Company, disapproved the suspension of Al Ain’s Colombian striker Danilo Asprilla by the Disciplinary Committee questioning at the same time the underlying reason behind such an unfair decision which was contrary to all expectations; “The Committee didn’t consider many and more obvious incidents during Al Ain-Al Wasl match; besides, Al Ain was the effected plaintiff but it was not done justice by the Committee,” he wondered.

He believed the Committee’s decision was based on a non-neutral report writer who was influenced by chats on social media and analyses on some TV channels about common wrangles between the fans of both teams. “This is queer and might be fueled by different motives in light of the sweeping popularity of both teams, in addition to some incidents that went unnoticed and deliberately unreported”, he added.

Believing that the Committee hasn’t taken similar decisions for a long time, Hammad pointed out that some AGL games have openly witnessed more uncommon behaviors than Asprilla’s, but the Committee’s reactions were less intense.

“The decision is unfair in the real sense of the word. The Committee has done nothing to several cases that occurred during the last two rounds; we hoped the Committee had dealt with this case more transparently especially that we still do not know the motives behind this decision against Al Ain exclusively. We have the right to ask why the Committee did not take similar sanctions against the players who harshly tackled Al Ain players,” he elaborated.

Regarding Omar Abdurrahman’s playing with Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia in their friendly against Barcelona in Doha on December 13th, Hammad made clear that the Saudi request was welcomed by the Board of Al Ain FC Company, chaired by H.E Ghanem Mubarak Al-Hajeri and Omar was granted the permission by Coach Zlatko Dalić. He also added that Omar will take some checkups at the Aspire Health Center in Doha before playing the friendly.

Regarding Al Ain’s next match versus Al Wahda, Hammad said: “We’re looking forward to winning other three points taking advantage of the team’s good position after securing two consecutive wins over Al Dhafra and Al Wasl. “As usual, we’ll be relying on great attendance by our hardcore fans to support the team in this match,” he hoped.

Regarding Al Ain’s two injured players, Hammad said; “Mohamed Fayez was diagnosed with an injury in the anterior muscle during the AFC second-leg final. Therefore, he was recommended by Al Ain’s medical staff and a German specialized physician not to play in any match after that. Currently he’s receiving the necessary treatment in Germany, we hope he’ll recover soon and re-joint the team.”

“As for Mohamed Ahmed,” Hammad continued, “He has successfully concluded the initial rehab phase, and will be leaving to Croatia on December 10th to engage in the second phase under the supervision of the specialist surgeon. He has shown a remarkable improvement, thanks to his dedication and commitment to the programs set by his physician, as well as the incredible cooperation of Al Ain’s medical staff”, he concluded.
