In a statement to Al Ain FC’s official Website, H.E Mohamed Obeid ‘Hammad’, Al Ain FC Board member and First Team Supervisor, highlighted; “We are fine with the 1-2 loss of the AFC Final first-leg; but we have turned that page and begun planning for the second-leg next Saturday. After a short break and recovery, the players in addition to the technical and admin staff will embark on implementing the set training program,” he confirmed.

He thought winning the first-leg was at hand and the players could have hold up and protect their 1-0 lead. He also complemented the players’ bravery spirit who played a game that befits a finalist. “However, they can recoup it; just one goal in the second-leg is enough to announce us champions. Yet, they have to maintain the same degree of focus, defiance and determination which they showed in S. Korea,” he commented.

He reconfirmed that the players have strived and played all the games to the finals dutifully because they realize the importance of winning the AFC title for the second time in their history. “The cup is just one step away; they have to build on what they have achieved to notch it up,” he said.

Al Ain fans were also cited in Hammad’s statement. He appreciated their support especially those who took the trouble of flying for a long distance to stand behind their team. “This sort of hardcore fans will not wait for somebody to urge them to cheer the team in large numbers; they are more impatient for the second-leg than the players themselves. They need to be rewarded with joy.” He concluded.
