Laba Kodjo had a Kick in Ajman Match and Meziane Suffered Unexpected Injury in the Last Training Session

We All Win Together and Lose Together

“It is a painful day! We were not in our day. We missed both Laba Kodjo, who suffered from a kick by the end of our match against Ajman, and Abdul Rahman Meziane, who was injured in the last training session. We selected the striker Ali Eid from Al Ain Reserved Team to play this match. However, we will analyze the team’s performance to determine the best solutions that improve our status in the upcoming matches,” Ivan Leko analyzed his team’s performance in the post-match press conference of matchweek 10 of the Arabian Gulf League against Al Dhafra.

In response to a question on whether the team is not competing to win the league title, he said: “If Al Sharjah wins, then the gap in points will be higher. Yet, everything is possible in the world of football. In January, we will back and compete the top teams to win the title.”

Commenting on another question if the tight schedule of the matches led to losing the result of this match or they lost it because of the defenders’ mistakes, he said: “Absolutely, the tight schedule has an impact on the squad’s performance, but it is not an excuse as all competitors suffer from the same pressure. As for the injuries that the players suffer from, the rate is not that high compared to the big number of players. Laba and Nader suffered from bruises and kicks in our match against Ajman. On the other hand, we have Barman and Bandar who are suffering from an injury in the leg muscle and I do not want talk much about it as this injury is a result of their participation in the recent matches of the UAE National Football Team.”

He added: “The team needs to enjoy stability and we did not because of our backline, simple because we win together and lose together.”

He concluded the media conference by stressing that the coaching team will analyze the performance and address all issues spotted in the match.
