Juan Carlos: The Philosophy of Engaging the “Young Players” Is Not the Reason Why We Lost to Bani Yas

“We lost more than one critical chance to take the lead in the first half,” Juan Carlos, the head coach of Al Ain FC, opened the post-match press conference dedicated for the matchweek 22 of AGL held in Bani Yas Stadium.

Garrido added: “The moment we missed the penalty kick was not good at all for the whole team. Also, we missed several chances during the first half and the lead goal scored by the home team was the turning point in the match and unfortunately, we could not come back to the match. Indeed, the opponent team boosted their lead by scoring their second goal after 3 minutes of the second half.”

Commenting on a question whether his policy to rely on young players is the reason behind the poor results of the team, he said: “I believe that the philosophy behind giving the chance for young players to join the first team is not the reason for losing the match against Bani Yas. In the last round we played with the same names who played tonight’s match, and everybody was satisfied by their performance last round. We must recognise that the current names of the team are different form the past one as we excluded several key players, namely: Mohannad, Mohammed Fayez and Ajab.
