The goalkeeper of Al Ain FC and the UAE National Football Team, Khalid Eisa, stated that I cannot express my feelings of pride, honor, and pleasure for officially announcing renewing my contract until 2024. He said: “I consider myself so lucky to wear Al Ain’s jersey and to defend the logo of this big and lofty sports entity.”

On the local and regional offers he received during the last six months of his contract, he said: “As a matter of fact, it is not an option for me to move to any other club because belonging to Al Ain Club triggers all the feelings of loyalty to this big club.” He underscored the fact that all his answers to the media questions on whether he is leaving the team or not that staying with the Boss is a priority which means a lot for him. “I would like to thank everyone who expressed their desire to join me to their teams and my decision was final, i.e. to stay in the team’s squad.”

Commenting on a question if he received an offer to join a European team, he stated: “I have to admit that under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Council, First Vice President of Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club, First Vice President of the Honorary Council & Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club, the Al Ain Club is so keen to embody the professional concepts when it comes to dealing with any member of the club. The club welcomes the idea of considering any European offers if they are serious and real ones.”

“I believe my experience with the Boss is exceptional and successful at all levels,” he responded to a question on whether he planned to the successes he achieved with Al Ain and his assessment of his experience with the team. he added: “Indeed, I did not really plan for that as much as I insisted on boosting my efforts and to train hard with high commitment to reach the best levels and showing the genuine desire to defend the logo of this big club.”

On nominating him as one of the top candidates to win the Award of Golden Gloves presented by PLC which he always competes to win it, he said: “Being part of the list of names nominated to compete to win this prestigious award each season is a good thing. This motivates me to push myself to the limit and will do my best to always compete to win this award each season.”

As for the delay in announcing the renewal of his contract, he said: “Observers of the team’s tight schedules this current season which is completely different from other seasons led to the delay in signing all the players’ contracts. I believe the management waited till the right time to complete all the procedures to sign the contracts.”

Khalid commented on the question on his happiest moments with the team saying “It is not a secret to tell you that each second I am spending with Al Ain is the happiest one and means a lot to me, but the happiest moments I have experienced were during the FIFA Club World Cup- UAE 2018. Everyone in UAE was supporting the team whose mission was to raise the name and the flag of UAE high in one of the most prominent and biggest global championships in the world. As you know, when it comes to the name of our dear homeland, the competition has a special flavor. This is why they were the happiest moments I experienced and will never forget such great memories forever.”

On the most difficult moments with Al Ain, he said: “The difficult moments I experienced with Al Ain were during the first and second leg matches against South Korea’s Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC in the AFC Champions League 2016. We were so close to clinch the title of the championship and add a second star to the logo of the team. We failed to achieve our aspirations and we were not lucky enough to do it.”

Commenting on the shockingly poor performance and results of the team during the current season locally and continentally despite the unprecedented achievement of the squad in the FIF Club World Cup- UAE 2018, he said: “The decline in the performance of any time in the world of football is normal. However, following the end of the FIFA Club World Cup- UAE 2018 being so close to winning the title when we played the final match against Spain’s Real Madrid, it was expected that the performance of the team will decline given the massive efforts exerted by the players during a very short period of time. However, the big clubs have the real potential and ability to recover and be back stronger in a short period of time. No need to worry about the Boss who enjoys a unique and wise leadership along with the support of its loyal fans.”

Responding to a question on his expectations of the team’s performance in the next season, he said: “Personally, I do not believe in the language of expectations. Above all, based on our experience it is difficult to identify the champs of the league prior the kick off the competitions or during the season for football rewards the best team in terms of preparations for the season and determined to win all their challenges. I believe at this point it is too early to talk about the new season.”

Khalid Eisa concluded his statement by addressing a very intimate message to the loyal fans of the Boss on the occasion of renewing his contract: “I love you so much and much appreciated.”
