Al Ain’s international goalkeeper Khalid Eisa, winner of the Best Man of the Match Title, stated that it is very difficult in the world of football to come back to the match and turn the table after losing it by three clean goals in the first half, given it is the first time for Al Ain Team to play in such a big international competition.

“The team who is able to do it is, for sure, a big quality team and enjoys high spirits to achieve their aspirations regardless the volume of the challenges they face,” Man of the Match asserted in the post-match press conference held following the end of round 1 match against New Zealand’s Team Wellington held at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.
Responding to a question if he expected the end result of the match, he said: “Football does not recognize the language of expectations, and to be honest I did not expect the scenario happened. At any rate, I was confident we will come back and turn the table as I did see determination in the faces of my teammates and listening to the messages and instructions given by the head coach during the break. This gave us the motivation to be up to it and achieve the desired goal.”

On whether conceding three goals in the first half surprised his team, he commented: “Everything is possible in football and it is obligatory to show respect to the opponent regardless of their spot in the international list. Add to that, the head coach briefed on the potentials and strong and weak points of the opponent team. We played the match with full determination to show our genuine skills as playing in such big competitions might happen only once in the player’s career, therefore we were so keen to boost our efforts by 300% to write a new history in our club’s record.”
