The Boss Concludes the 1st Stage of Austria Training Camp by Sunday 28th July and Heads to Slovenia.

Portuguese Nani and Kohei Under Leko’s Radar With A View to Sign them to the Squad

As per the program of the preseason summer training camp of the Boss squad, the first phase ends by Sunday 28th July 2019. The team departs Austria heading to Slovenia to kick off the second phase of the program which ends by 13th August 2019.

Matar Obaid Al Sahbani, First Team Manager, confirmed that all the squad players are available including Laba and Abdul Rahman Meziane. They both arrived on Friday 26th July, and the head coach decided to grant them 24 hours break. It is agreed that they join the team’s last training sessions in Austria on Sunday 27th July 2019.

The First Team Manager added: “Reports on the performance indicators of the players submitted by the coaching team covering the first stage of the training camp of Austria are all positive. All went well and as per the program set up by the head coach, Croatia’s Ivan Leko, which included special programs dedicated for recovery and rehabilitation, gymnasium activities, swimming, and Jacuzzi.”

He also pointed out that the team played two friendly matches. The first game was against the reserved team of Slavonia Celje and the head coach selected six players from Al Ain Reserved Team keeping in mind to give the international players a break and granting injured players more time to recover. The head coach was satisfied by the rates of physical fitness, speed, and harmony among players.

Al Sahbani went on to say that the second friendly match was against Macedonia’s Vardar FK, but it was suspended before the end of the first half due to heavy showers of rain. He hailed the team’s high performance and the fighting spirit during the minutes of the first half.

As for the remaining matches of the team, he stated: “Al Ain squad is scheduled to play against Saudi Arabia’s Al Fatah and Al Ittihad teams on 30th July and 4th August respectively. The team also is playing against Croatia’s Astra FC of the Premier League on 7th August. The head coach decided to play the fourth match to be held on 11 or 12 August against one of the Croatian teams, and the nominated name will be identified later on.”

In response to a question on his assessment and scores assigned for the performance indicators of the away training camp, he said: “As I stated during the home training camp, the leadership of the club has furnished all the grounds to win all home and away titles. Our team is required to turn the generous support and attention into deeds and great positive results leading to clinching more titles. From my point of view, I see that assessment of the results of the preseason training camps should be done by the end of the season and the overall assessment of the team’s performance during the whole season.” Al Sahbani pointed out that the atmosphere dominating the camp is optimistic, and there is a state of satisfaction among the players who do the best to prove they deserve to wear and defend the Boss badge.

Al Sahbani indicated that all players enrolled the rehabilitation and recovery programs are doing well and show their great desire to and commitment to speed their recovery period. He stated: “We have six players who joined the rehabilitation programs under the supervision of the team’s doctor and physiotherapist, namely: Mohammed Abdul Rahman, Mohammed Ahmed, Bandar Al Ahbabi, Rayan Islam, Ali Al Hayazani, and Mohammed Basaleeb. Reports and the results of the medical tests showed that Mohammed Ahmed is doing well following the surgery he underwent recently in Zagreb. His surgeon gave the player the green light to participate in the group training sessions effective 15th August 2019.”

As for Mohammed Abdul Rahman, he stated: “He completed his rehabilitation program and joined the group training sessions. It is expected he will play the team’s third friendly match against Saudi Arabia’s Al Fattah FC.”

He also stated that Bandar Al Ahbabi, who suffered from muscle cramp during the training camp of the UAE National Football Team, would join the team within ten days. Rayan Yaslam will join the team’s group training sessions of the second phase of the away training camp scheduled to be held in Slovenia. Ali Al Ali Al Hayazani suffered from muscles cramp and will join the team sooner, while goalkeeper Mohammed Basaleeb who suffered from an injury in his hand and enrolled a rehabilitation program. Al Hayazani and Basaleeb are scheduled to complete their treatment program before the end of the second phase of the away camp.”

On the status of the two Portuguese players, Nani and Kohei, Al Sahbani stated: “Al Ain adopts a crystal-clear vision to achieve its pre-set goals. All players signed to the team during the past five years completed their 3- or 5-years contracts and some of these players extended them. The work is ongoing until the transfer window is closed as we are still looking for new resident players to sign to the team. The two players Nani and Kohei are subject to tests designed by the head coach to assess their performance and skills.”
