The Croatian head coach of Al Ain FC expressed his pleasure and pride for winning the home team, Ajman, by 4-1 in the matchweek 9 of the Arabian Gulf League.

He said: “We played a collective football and controlled the match as of the kickoff whistle until the end of the match. We did it and deserved the victory over the home team. The team will have a break tomorrow and then be back to resume our preparations for our next match.”

Commenting on a question on whether the team is back to the victories track due to having Algeria’s Meziane onboard, he said: “Al Ain adopts a collective style of playing, and we do not rely on a single player. Meziane played well this match, and we also have Bandar, who is a key player of the squad, but he is absent this match.”

On the signs of his discomfort during the match and being issued a yellow card, Ivan said: “I believe that we deserved to be awarded a valid penalty goal as a violation against Jamal Marouf but denied by the match referee. Just imagine if the result is a 1-1 draw; I am sure this will be a disastrous impact over the team. also, if you remember the third goal scored by Kodjo Laba against Al Sharjah, things would be completely different and finished the match with three points in our hands, and our spot in the standing table is not as now.”

He concluded by addressing a question regarding the VAR position of such mistakes.
