In the pre-match press conference of Al Ain Team against Al Fujairah, Pedro Emmanuel stated that his team’s confrontation against Al Fujairah is so important for him and that his squad are required to snatch the three points.

The Portuguese head coach of Al Ain stressed: “The opponent has new coaching team which means they adopt a new playing strategy. Definitely, we would adopt the policy of high concentration, given that we are playing at home and among our loyal grassroots. We would play per the style of playing that leads us to win the guests with all due respect to them.”

Commenting on a question that he keeps Jamal Marouf on the bench despite hailing his quality skills, he said: “It is an easy question! I do not always involve the important players in the starting eleven players. The thing that you do not know but all the players well aware of is each player is so important to me. This is why all the players are required to do their best and Jamal Marouf is a live example. He has been pushing himself to the limit and he is doing well in the way that serves the best interest of the team and enhances his value as a key player. This is why Jamal is a very important player to me whether he plays five or ninety minutes.”

As for Yahiya, Ajab and Rayan and the possibility to play against Al Fujairah, he said that he would not give the opportunity for players who are not fully fit. “It is important for me to have a starting lineup that is good and looks logical. I am happy to have the injured players onboard which is a headache for the coach as my mission is to select the right player in this case among the players contrary when we have absences.”

“It is a good decision for me as my team needs to have a break following the tight schedule we used to have in the past weeks. We need this space of time to recover,” Pedro said in response to a question on his opinion regarding the AFC decision to postpone the matches of the champions league.

He commented on a question on the reasons for the shaky start of the team and then the powerful return in the team’s recent matches, he said: “This does not annoy me. Opponents close all available spaces in the first half, but we analyze the opponent’s performance to play against them in the style of playing that enable us to achieve our target in the second half.”

He signed off: “The most important is to win and not to score in the beginning or at the end of the match.”
