We Have to Let Our Phenomenal Result Against Al Dhafra in the League Phase 1 Slip from Memory

“It is not easy to perform well after the elapse of only three days of playing our recent match although it was in a different competition,” Sergiy Rebrov opened the pre-match press conference of matchweek 15 of ADNOC Pro League against Al Dhafra Team.

The head coach of the Boss squad added: “It is important to draw a blank over the result of our first leg home match against Al Dhafra as it will be completely different considering it will be held in Al Dhafra and they have a new head coach.”

He also stated that regardless of Al Dhafra Team’s place on the standing table, it is expected that the match would be intense.

“I watched several matches of the opponent, and I believe that they are significantly improving, and the squad players enjoy high levels of aggressiveness. We have to play seriously and focus on the players’ recovery programs,” he said.

Commenting on the news reports stating that Al Ain’s match against Al Dhafra will be an easy mission, he said: “There is no easy match for Al Ain Team! However, any match will be easy if the players enjoy high concentration levels and properly fulfill their defensive and offensive tasks. In this case, we could easily achieve a positive result in terms of score, and after the match, we could decide whether it is an easy match or not.”

Sergiy Rebrov stressed that the Al Ain squad had not played any easy match so far, considering that the next game will be held at Hamdan bin Zayed Stadium in Al Dhafra City.

In response to a question on seeing new faces being part of the starting eleven list, such as Khalid Al Blooshi, El Mehdi, Falah Waleed, and Saeed Ahmad, he said: “Al Ain squad has twenty-five players, not eleven ones. Therefore, everyone can be selected to play in the starting eleven.”

He pointed out that he decided to involve those players and others as well, for they show high levels of seriousness during the training sessions even if they are not selected to start the match.

Sergiy indicated they deserve to play in their position as they spare no effort in training sessions and are doing well in the team’s matches.

As for the expected players not to play the next match and injured players who may join the squad soon, he stated: “It is expected that Matias Palacios, Yahiya Nader, and Caio Canedo might join the team shortly and have already joined the training sessions. Regarding the other injured payers, they are still under treatment.”
