In the pre-match press conference dedicated for the top clash of matchweek14 of the Arabian Gulf League between Al Ain and Shabab Al Ahli Dubai, Croatia’s Head Coach of Al Ain First Football Team, Zoran Mamic, emphasized that his team will have an important challenge playing against Shabab Al Ahli Dubai on Friday in one of the toughest AGL “Derby” matches. He pointed out: “However, we are so determined to move forward with our impressive results and be at the top place of the AGL standing table.”

“I do respect the ambitions of the opposing team regardless of their results during the current season. Meanwhile, I have full confidence in Al Ain stars’ potentials to win the home team and back from Dubai with the three points in hands based on facts that my team enjoys super high-level of skills, as well as the players enjoy a professional mentality that enables them to deal with any competitor regardless of their place in the standing table,” said he.

Commenting on a question on his opinion pertaining to Shabab Al Ahli Dubai’s level this season, he said: “I am not the coach of the competing team, so I believe I am not in charge of the current status of the team. In fact, it is the team’s technical staff who are responsible to tackle the details of their situation. Personally, I focus on preparing my team for the coming important confrontation.”

“We will miss Omar Abdul Rahman because of suspension. As for Amer Abdul Rahman, we will assess his ability to play the coming match during today and tomorrow training sessions. Caio Lucas has already rejoined the team after he completed the rehabilitation phase,” said Zoran replying to a question on absences of Al Ain.

When was asked about Amoory’s absence and its impact on the team, Zoran stated: “Absolutely the absence of the best player in Asia and Captain of Al Ain FC has a negative impact on the team and it is not good for the club as a whole.” He went on to say: “Personally, this decision is illegal and had Amoory committed any violation, Al Ain Club would have taken disciplinary action even prior UAEFA takes any decision.” He addressed a question to the media: “I wonder if the team had won the title of the Arabian Gulf Cup 23, would we witness all of this?!” he added: “I have another question: would UAEFA call both Omar and Mabkhout during next March to play for UAE National Team?!”
“All those who know UAE well, they will find it a leading country in more than 100 fields including leadership, management, sports, art and architecture. At present, the whole glob talks about Burj Khalifa and UAE becomes one of the leading countries in innovation and many more. But then again, when it comes to UAEFA, it is all different. UAEFA lacks the administrative system and adopts ambiguous strategy. I cannot imagine that it is difficult to task professional figures who are capable to keep pace with development witnessed by UAE and those who enjoy the mentality that contribute to the achievements that have been associated with the name of UAE,” stated he.

Zoran went on to say: “UAEFA should be quite practical and understands the importance of member clubs’ roles and to approve a systematic and ideal framework while communicating with clubs. In fact, UAEFA relationship with clubs should not be limited to the imposition of penalties and continuous changes in schedules of tournaments and suspension of the league competition justifying such actions that these are gathering days of UAE National Team in the days other than those specified by the International Federation for the national teams.” He commented on such actions by saying: “These things fall under the title of “Chaos”. Nevertheless, we used to UAEFA blaming coaches and players for any mistakes while keeping UAEFA administrative staff blameless.”

“If we assume that the player made a mistake and contravened UAEFA regulations, then the penalty should have been imposed on him at the level of the national team, especially the UAEFA’s report confirms that Amoory went out with Mabkhout and Mohamed Fawzi a day before the final match,” wondered he. He also stated: “The question here is why UAEFA did not suspend and deprived them of the right to play the most important match in the championship!! Indeed, UAEFA should understands that it is the club who pays the players’ salaries and abide by flawless terms towards them. Amoory will be suspended for 4 matches, i.e. he will not play for one month and who will pay him his salary, UAEFA or his club!!”

He stated an example of lack of communication with UAEFA, saying that: “Three months ago, I addressed a letter to UAEFA, and I have not received any response so far. UAEFA is required to show respect for member clubs. Personally, as the Head Coach of Al Ain FC I was waiting for a reply letter stating we apologize to fulfill your request, we will get back to you later or any kind of reply that promote the level of communication between the UAEFA and clubs and enhance the team work system.”

Zoran stated: “I have another question! Who will be responsible if I lose my job as a coach in the event of losing to Shabab Al Ahli Dubai scheduled to play at their ground missing our best player!!” He confirmed: “UAEFA has to recognize that he is a partner and not an enemy of member clubs.”

Zoran expressed his shock saying that: “For the first time I heard such decisions because players were leaving the camp with a permission and sometimes without and were not punished before they lost the final math, but following losing that final match UAEFA decided to punish them.” He mentioned a similar event took place in Germany where players left their national team camp and were exposed to penalties for such actions, but Bayern Munich FC challenged the decision and the penalty was annulled because it was the club only who would suffer from such a decision. He signed off by giving another example: “Kuwait Football Association in the same championship punished two key players of their national team and suspended them, but UAEFA preferred to wait until the national team lost the final match and imposed such penalties. It is weird !!”
