I Refuse Talking About Any Player’s Mistakes as We Are Talking the Language of One Team

“It is easy to talk about tonight’s match as the opponent was organized per their coach’s plan,” Pedro Emmanuel stated in the post-match press conference held following the end of Al Ain matchweek 18 of the Arabian Gulf League.

He added: “The opponent had several chances to fire their lead and were able to make the result 1-0. In turn, we were slow in passing the ball and did not get the chance to score.”

“In the second half, we made certain changes and boosted up the level of concentration while passing the ball and shooting from the box. We were able to score two goals, changed the result and achieved our target out of this match.”

Pedro stated: “I do believe that the fans’ absence led to the low rhythm of the match, but again we clinched the three points of the match and this is the most important thing.”

“Add to that, the match was so difficult for the opponent adopted a compact defensive system and we should not give them the chance to score.”

Commenting on a question on the mistakes committed by midfielders, specifically Ahmad Barman, and lack of support of his teammates, he said: “If you want me to talk about mistakes of a certain player, rest assured that this will never happen as when we play, we paly as Al Ain and I do mean this.”

“In the first half, we did not play well, and we were not good enough and we lost by 1-0. Practically, if we did not do our best, we will not be Al Ain known with their strong personality; otherwise, we will be a very normal team. In the second half, all of the squad players did well and by the end of the match we achieved the result and won the match.”

Pedro commented that football is a collective game but depends on individual performance. “Sometimes, individual performance has an impact on collective performance.”

He signed off: “I refuse to criticize a single player for his performance. We committed many mistakes in the first half by several players and sometimes we are not lucky enough in selecting the team’s right lineup.”
