Zoran Mamic opened the pre-match press conference of Al Ain and Al Sharjah matchweek 8 of the Arabian Gulf League by stressing the fact that his team is looking forward to winning Al Sharjah and put firm hands on the top spot of the table when they host the current top spot team, Al Sharjah, on Wednesday 31st October 2018 at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in the top clash confrontation of this round.

He underlined: “Al Sharjah is doing well this season being undefeated since the kick-off of the league. They are well organized and enjoy great offensive and defensive potentials. This requires us to be patient and have full concentration.”

Commenting on a question on whether he is using the bench as a strategy for punishment compared to the excellent performance of certain players like Mohannad, El Shahat and Amer in the recent match, he said: “Not at all! It is a normal thing, indeed. The player who plays well deserves to be one of the starting XI. Do not forget that players sometimes need a break due to exhaustion and injuries and my job is to make the team play football up to the highest standards and players are required to be safe, perform well and implement my instructions on the pitch. By this we are consolidating the principles of professionalism and this applies to all clubs in the world and not Al Ain only.”

On the impact of winning Al Sharjah 4-0 in the Gulf League Cup on Wednesday’s match, he stated: “I do not think there will be any impact on the coming match as it is a new challenge and completely different match. It is clear that Al Sharjah has its sights fully set on the league and not the Cup League. We do understand that guests are looking forward to maintaining their top spot when we meet at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on Wednesday.”

Zoran addressed a message to the fans by stressing the fact the team deserves to receive their massive support. “Our goal as a team is well-defined. We have to have integrated roles and we all required to fulfill our obligations. The fans’ role will have a significant positive impact on the team’s power and performance. I do hope to see all our fans in the standings to help us achieve our goal in the coming match.”

As for the absences, he confirmed that only Mohammed Abdul Rahman will not play due to receiving his third yellow card in the last match against Ajman.
