Al Ain Croatian Coach, Zoran Mamic, congratulated Al Wasl Team for the “very strong comeback” in their game in the Arabian Gulf League.
Mamic conceded that finishing third in the Arabian Gulf League was now out of their hands after the defeat at the Zabeel Stadium.
Following the game, Mamic lamented the individual mistakes that led to a shock 4-3 defeat away to Al Wasl on Saturday.
“We made great progress early on but individual errors cost us. After the second goal we had five chances and never scored. If you can’t translate opportunities that’s the fate you encounter,” the Croatian Coash noted.
“We have three games left and mathematically we can return, however the reality confirms it’s not in our hands,” said Mamic.
On the reason behind the fightback of Al Wasl, Mamic said “I think it is not only about the players’ fitness, but also about the psychological and mental aspects.”
He asserted that it’s normal to have a decline in the players’ fitness level due the long season, pointing out that it’s difficult to amend such in the current time.
The coach hailed the performance of the player Yousuf Ahmad, stressing that it was clear in the training sessions that player wants to do his best in the field of play. He urged Ahmad to do more and more.
“Al Shamarani is not travelling with us to Iran,” the Coach said, commenting on the participation of the Saudi player in the game against Zob Ahan Esfahan of Iran in the AFC Champions League.
