Following an undesired 2-2 draw tonight with Al Shabab that dashed his squad’s hopes of competing for the Arabian Gulf League title forever, Al Ain’s Croatian coach, Zlatko Dalić, lamented lack of luck over the past two seasons of AGL competition although they planned to be powerful competitors in the current edition.

“We outplayed our competitors especially in 2nd half, but we lost many scoring opportunities and consequently we lost any hope of proceeding to the next stage of the completion,” he lamented.

Commenting on the proceedings, Zlatko said: “I gave some young players the opportunity to play and we also reshuffled the positions of the foreign players in tonight’s match which is a good training before our next match versus Qatar’s El Jaish.”

Zlatko has now to switch his thoughts to their AFC semifinal away against Qatar’s El Jaish next Tuesday; “It will be a challenging match as both teams will try their best to play the finals,” he said.
Zlatko concluded by thanking Al Shabab for their fair play despite some players’ willies which is quite common in football.
