We imposed our powerful personality but we were out of luck

Hernán Crespo: We deserved to claim victory… But we took a friendly goal after committing an individual mistake

Hernán Crespo, the Argentine manager of Al Ain, expressed his cheerfulness over his team’s performance vs Qatari Al Saad in the onset of their continental journey at AFC Champions League for the Elite, emphasizing: “We definitely deserved to claim victory, but we took a friendly goal after committing an individual mistake, then we returned in the match’s second half and showed up with our powerful personality, so we managed to score the equalizer.”

In response to a question over keeping the team’s forward player Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba on the substitutes benches, despite the predictions for the powerful attacking start, he said: “I took this decision because I was required here to make coaching decisions and to outline the most appropriate strategy for each match aside from the other, and those who follow up the match’s first half find out that we managed to impose our full control over the match, then we took a goal after committing an individual mistake, so I think that the match’s second half was the most appropriate time to engage Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba.”

He went on: “We performed our best in today’s match and as I have already mentioned to you, we imposed our full control over the match and we did our best, but we were in need of the factor of luck, while sometimes such things happen in the realm of football.”
