Sheikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Chairman of the board of directors of Al Ain Football Club Company, said that the team’s results during the current season do not match with the name of Al Ain and do not come in line with the aspirations of our fans, who are used to claiming victories and realizing accomplishments, emphasizing: “We hold full responsibility over the team’s recent performance and we are doing our best to return to the path of triumphs, while apology alone is not enough, so apology should be associatedwith bearing responsibility to restore our team’s character and identity to its natural place.”
“We lost many important points on the local and continental levels, but our ambitions and goals did not and will not change and we still look forward to compete over the titles of all local tournaments, as well AFC Champions League Elite, so the Board of Directors have decided to change the coaching staff and chose the PortugueseJardem, taking into consideration his capabilities, coaching experience, his established knowledge in football in the region and the United Arab Emirates, as well as his many accomplishments he managed to achieve during his coaching career. Changing the coaching staff is justone step out of many internal steps which we will be working on to correct our path during the current season,” he added.
“Our position on the standings of AFC Champions League Elite does not match with Al Ain, as the title holder and the champions of 2024 edition, but we still have four upcoming decisive matches to compensate and qualify to the next stage. Meanwhile, return will not be easy but it isnot be impossible and we do need a doubled effort from everyone. The team have in its ranks world class players, starting with those who have experience and a mix of young players, so we are capable of returning and the upcoming period of time will be evaluated in correlation with the new coaching staff over the requirements, as well as the possibility to bolster the team’s ranks during winter transfers and before the onset of FIFA Club World Cup 2025,” he added.
He concluded his speech saying: “Al Ain fans are the fundamental pillar and the number one supporter for the team since its establishment and during all accomplishments achieved by “The Boss” throughout the history, so we find out that the password behind those accomplishments are within the Ainawi nation. Al Ain fans have always been showing their loyalty for this entity by their continuous presence behind the team at all offshore venues despite the negative results, which bolsters the big responsibility. We ask Almighty Allah to assist and guide the team during the upcoming period, in which everyone affiliated to this club knows that it requires uniting all efforts, starting with the vision of our club which represents the spirit of one family.”
