Al Ain, led by Omar Abdulrahman, defeated the Uzbekistani Bunyodkor 3-2 in an away game held Tuesday at the Bunyodkor stadium in Tashkent as part of the second round of the AFC Champions League’s group stage.
Two swishes of Amoory’s left foot, one after just eight minutes and the other in minute 89, and a goal by Caio Lucas in minute 15 secured the three points for the Garden City club.
The two goals of the host team were scored in the minutes 10 and 43 by Vadim Cemirtan and Dostonbek Khamdamov respectively.
With the offensive style of play adopted by the team coach Zoran Mamic, Amoory needed only eight minutes to score the first goal, curling a 20-yard free-kick past Murod Zukhurov in the home goal.
But two minutes later the home side gained parity as forward Vadim Cemirtan found the net, having the score leveled.
Only after a quarter of an hour had elapsed, Al Ain Brazilian player Caio struck Nasser Al Shamrani’s flick-on with conviction past Zukhurov to restore Al Ain’s advantage.
Because of the wastefulness of the Garden City club players in front of goal, Sergey Lushan’s midfielder Vadim Cemirtan ended Al Ain supremacy to bring the tally to 2-2.
In the minute 72, the home side were reduced to 10 men as defender Akramjon Komilov was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
And the final blow came their way when Caio was felled in the area. The reigning AFC Player of the Year, Abdulrahman made no mistake in converting the penalty to give his side full points.
