Al Ain Defender Ismail Ahmed stressed that it is not bad to get a point from the game against Al Ahli, stressing that the team sought to clinch the three points.
Al Ain FC twice rallied from a goal down to hold Al Ahli to a 2-2 draw in AFC Champions League Group C fixture at the latter’s own backyards at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium “The Shining Jewel” in Jeddah.
Ahmed, named the man of the match by the Asian Football Confederation, said that it’s certain that the game was not easy for both teams.
In the first half, we did not perform as required and we had many mistakes, however, the team performance got better in the second half thanks to the coach directions and the players desire to perform in a way that fit with the UAE football reputation.
By the end of the match, we were almost to score a third goal and win, but we were not lucky, the defender said, expressing thanks to his teammates and the fans who attended the game.
Commenting on being named the man of the match, Ismail thanked the coach and the teammates for helping him to get such title, stressing that footballers should double their efforts and improve their skills all the time.
He wished that the team would achieve strong results and avoid mistakes.
