Al Ain had actually the better of the first half, forcing the host team to defend. Danilo Asprilla failed to score the first goal when Al Jazeera’s net was barren with keeper Ali Khasif out of position.
Directly after half time, Abdulrahman could have gotten on the score sheet himself. The Al Ain Captain collected Caio’s cross with an expert touch, slide at the vital moment and directed his shot well wide of the Jazeera goal.
Al Ain was likely to break the deadlock, with defender Rashed Muhayer volleying just over the hosts’ crossbar and Caio forcing Kasheif into an acrobatic stop.
