Al Ain Loses to Al Jazira in Matchweek 19 of AGL

Al Ain lost their matchweek 19 of the Gulf Arabian League to the home team, Al Jazira, dropped very important three points. The match was held on Wednesday 3rd April at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium of Al Jazira Club.

Al Jazira took the lead by the end of the first half by 3-1. Al Ain sole goal scored by Ismael Ahmad “41” while Al Jazira five gals scored by Ernest Asante “2, 48”, Ali Mabkhoot “28, 79” and Naser Barazite “45+3”.

Al Ain temporarily remain in second place on 38 points. Meanwhile, Al Jazira raised their tally to 37 points, and jumped to third place.

Al Jazira was able to find the back of the net only two minutes into the game. A long pass from Khalfan Mubarak found Ali Mabkhoot outside the box and the latter delivered the ball perfectly to Ernest Asante who fired past Khalid Eisa.

Al Ain sought to return the game to the starting point exerting high pressure from the depth and the flanks, but Ali Khsaif was there defending his net bravely. The Japanese “international” midfielder sent a rocket shot from outside the box but controlled by Khsaif who barely saved his back net “4”.

Two minutes before the half-hour mark, Al Jazira went 2-0 up at “28” minute of the first half, thanks to Mabkhoot who turned from provider to scorer. Khalfan Mubarak’s defense-splitting pass found Mabkhoot who dribbled past the Al Ain defenders and fired home.

Ismail Ahmed managed to reduce the deficit when he sent a powerful header to the back net of Al Jazira “41”. Caio delivered in a corner kick into the box and Ismail Ahmed, who was left unmarked in the box, rose up and fired an unstoppable header into the back of the net.

Al Jazira, however, refused to stand still and responded quickly to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. Mabkhoot continued to impress as he delivered a decisive pass to substitute Barazite on the edge of the box and the Dutch forward curled home past helpless Eisa “45+3”.

The second half began in a similar vein to the first, with Al Jazira scoring only three minutes after the restart through a quick counter-attack. Asante scored his second personal goal and the fourth for his team “48”. Then, Mabkhoot scored his second personal goal and the fifth of the team “78” to end the match by 5-1.
