Juan Carlos: Required to React with Aggressivity in the Coming Matches
Following the sudden loss of Al Ain against Al Jazira by 5-1 in matchweek 19 of the Arabian Gulf League, Juan Carlos Garrido stated in the post-match press conference that the result was so negative, and the team’s performance was so poor. “For sure we will analyze the match and goals we conceded during tonight’s match. I believe that we did not take advantage of the many chances we got during the critical moments. We scored our first goal and the board was showing the result as 2-1 and were nearer to equalize and bring the match to the first square, but we did not deal with the chances we had in the right way. Indeed, Al Jazira succeeded in scoring three goals in the first half and that was so critical for them. In the second half, I believed that my team will come back and turn the table, but again we failed to score despite the numerous chances we had, and we conceded the fourth goal and then the fifth which was the official announcement of the end of the match.”
He added: “I am hold responsible for the poor performance of my team and the negative result as well. I accept all criticism, but we have to handle the difficult situations we are experiencing at present with professional mentality. We ae required to react strongly following such an unacceptable result and demonstrate the team’s genuine fighting spirit and back to the victories track.”
In response to a question on his team’s chances to compete to win the title of the league, he stated: “Definitely, the current circumstances make you focus only on overcoming them and rebalance. In football there are always several interpretations for such negative results at the tactical level at least. However, as I have stated earlier, we will analyze the match and think about how to react well in the coming matches and deal with the whole situation professionally.”
