Al Ain Loses to Al Wasl 5-3 in the President’s Cup

In the last-16 teams round of the President’s Cup, Al Ain left the competition when lost their match to Al Wasl by 5-3 in the knockout match held at Al Nahyan Stadium of Al Wahda Club.

The first half ended by Al Wasl taking the lead by 3-0. Al Ain scored through Caio Lucas “47”, Hussein El Shahat “57” and Ibrahim Diaky “76”. Meanwhile, Al Wasl scored through Fabio de Lima “21- 63”, Caio Canedo “42- 82” and Abdullah Jasim “28”. By this result, Al Wasl qualified to the quarterfinal stage of the competition.

That confrontation started quickly from both sides who tried to take the lead early. Al Wasl succeeded to score their lead goal by Fabio de Lima when he received a deft pass from Salmeen Khamis to control it skillfully and sent a powerful shot to the back net of Khaled Issa “21”. Al Wasl kept on their pressure and scored their second goal through Abdulla Jasim “28” and to finish the first half by scoring their third goal through Caio Canedo “42”.

On the restart, it took Al Ain two minutes to score their first goal when Bandar Al Ahbabi squared a deft cross to find Caio Lucas on the right spot who directly sent it to the back net of Al Wasl’s goalkeeper back net by a powerful header “47”.

El Shahat insisted to show his skills in the box to deceive the defenders and sent a screamer to the furthest left corner of Al Zaabi’s net to be Al Ain’s second goal “58”.

Al Wasl’s Fabio de Lima widened the gap again when he scored his second personal goal when he received a pass from Vinicius de Lima and with no hesitation he sent it into Khaled’s net to be his team’s fourth goal “63”.

Al Ain’s mascot, Ibrahim Diaky, reduced the gap again by scoring his team’s third goal when he received Shiotani’s cross to send the ball directly into Al Zaabi’s net “76.”.

In the “82nd” minute, the match referee pointed to the penalty point in favor of Al Wasl and Caio scored his team’s last and fifth goal.
