“This is a different competition and a significant one. All competing teams will play to win the title. This dictates to show our genuine strength as of the first match,” Pedro Emmanuel states in the pre-match press conference dedicated for the first match of the team in the President’s Cup against Ajman scheduled to be held at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.

He hailed the Ajman Team by highlighting that they are an organized team with a strong defensive line and that they rely on counterattacks since they have fast and strong players in the front line. He confirmed that the Al Ain team has to handle these strengths well during the match and be ready for any scenario.

He added: “We must win and qualify to the next stage. We have to play aggressively to change the team’s negative image in the recent match against Bani Yas, which is the most important issue at present, considering the tight schedule we have, which is only three days from the last match. Indeed, we aim to win the title.”

Replying to a question on the players who are expected not to play against Ajman, he said: “This is the question that I always address to the medical team. We have several injured players, and we try our best to find solutions. It is possible that we have certain players back to the team’s lineup and evaluates their medical and physical conditions before deciding to give them the green light to play the next match. We do not want to see them back to the clinic after completing their recovery programs. If they are fit, they will join the team; otherwise, we will not add their names to the first eleven players. The most important thing is to keep a high level of concentration and play strongly in the first match of this championship. We have to prove to ourselves that when we play as a genuine strong team, we will beat any opponent.”

Pedro admitted that he knows that the fans are not happy about losing the last match to Bani Yas by 1-4, and the same applies to the Boss squad and coaching teams.

Pedro addressed a message to the unsatisfied Ainawi spectators: “We have to take advantage of this precious opportunity only after three days from the previous match to prove that we are a strong team. I want to remind the fans that we achieved three victories in the league in a row and lost the fourth one. We will show everyone that the team is still strong, given that it is a new competition and we are in deep need of the fans’ support.”

He concluded his statement: “We are stronger when the fans are behind the team, and we do understand that they are unhappy, but we do our best to put a smile on their faces. We have to remember that in the last season, we qualified for the final match, and our starting point will be by winning the guests, Ajman Team.”
