“We knew ahead of playing this match that our mission against Bani Yas would be difficult,” the head coach of the Al Ain Team stated in the post-match press conference dedicated for matchweek 7 of AGL against Bani Yas after the heavy defeat by 1-4.

Pedro Emmanuel stated that they were aware that winning the home team would push the team’s spot to the second, but his squad conceded two goals within five minutes, and he had no explanation why that had happened. Then he said that the team tried to return to the match but again conceded the third goal.

He added: “We tried our best to compensate the deficit and reorganize our lines, and we knew that it would take us one goal to score and things would be better, but the referee denied the second goal we scored and if it was approved, I am sure the scenario would be completely different.”

Pedro stated frankly that his team did not deserve to win the match. “We lost the three points, and we have to congratulate Bani Yas for their performance and victory. It is so difficult to lose with many such goals! However, it is the hard times that create genuine men. We have to keep going and prepare well for the upcoming match against Ajman in the President’s Cup.”

“I can try to find excuses and justify such a loss by stating we are missing nine key players tonight, but this is not my style,” Pedro stated.

He went on to say: “If we want to be a strong team, we have to play with the spirit of the team. Today, we were not; indeed, we were a normal squad.”

Pedro concluded his statement by stressing that he is held liable for all that happened on the pitch and would change the organization of the team, “but we have to change the mentality as we should not lose such a match this way.”
