“For the first time in the current season I find myself obliged to say that I am a bit worried when meeting the opponent team for several reasons,” Croatia’s Head Coach Zoran Mamic inaugurated the pre-match press conference dedicated for Tuesday’s confrontation between Al Ain and the visitors, Bahrain’s Malkiya. He counted those reasons by saying: “My team has not reached the optimal level of readiness to play in the AFC Champions League; particularly, the team was not a candidate for the continental competition except for reasons that Shabab Al Ahli Dubai withdrew. Add to that qualifying for the next stage will be through this one match only and no other chances for compensation.”

He added: “As per speculations, Al Ain is the favorite team but it is a fact that football only rewards the team who fights and highly focused throughout the match minutes. To qualify, we need to be the best team in the pitch.”

“Malkiya has improved and progressed with the current head coach who has managed to save the team three seasons ago from relegation and pushed the team to the limit to win the title of Bahrain’s football league in the previous season,” stated Zoran.

“The opposing team has young players and plays decent quality football; therefore, we have to exhibit our genuine fighting spirit,” said he. He went on to say: “I am well aware of the importance of avoiding the complexities of underestimating the strength of the opponent. Actually, football is linked to happy moments but sometimes it turned to bad times.” He stressed: “If we want to qualify, we have to show the competitor our real fighting spirit to reserve our seat in Group 4.”

On the “Boss’” players stunning long experience in such confrontations, he commented: “I have full confidence in my team’s players and their high potentials and skills. However, such confrontations require superior focus because there is no room for compensation, as I have already mentioned, and the players’ experience will be crucial in tomorrow’s match.”

Commenting on a statement made by the Secretary General of Malkiya on Amoory’s salary that exceeds his club’s budget, Zoran said: “Personally, I have no idea about Malkiya players’ salaries or even the salaries of Al Ain players. Indeed, these are personal issues governed by special contracts concluded between the club and the player himself.”

On Amoory’s participation in the coming match, he confirmed: “It is certain that Amoory is going to play tomorrow and he is also going to play in the match of Arabian Gulf League against Ajman.” He signed off by stating: “Our squad has no absences as the last one to rejoin the team following recovery from injury is Amer Abdul Rahman.”
